Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find out more about lower cost counselling?
Rough Patch Counselling offers lower cost sessions for those who may otherwise struggle to afford the cost of counselling. If you access sessions through Rough Patch, I can provide up to 30 lower cost sessions in a 12 month period. To find out if you’re a fit for this option, please click here.
How are you different from a psychologist?
There is a lot of crossover between psychology and psychotherapy, and the way clinicians work in both fields can vary widely.
Broadly speaking, psychologists work with diagnoses, and may adhere more closely to a specific treatment model, providing a more structured experience.
A psychotherapist like me, tends to be less structured. Together, we range more widely across your life and experiences. Sessions are led by you and whatever is most present in the moment.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required, so you can access support directly. If you do have a referral please bring it along as I’m happy to correspond with any other health professionals supporting you.
Can I get a Medicare or private health fund rebate?
Medicare rebates are not available for counselling/psychotherapy sessions. However, my pricing is similar to the gap fees for a psychologist, making my services an accessible option. Currently, I am unable to offer private health fund rebates.
How do I make an appointment?
Please feel welcome to send me an email or text with any enquiries, or if you’d like to book a session.
If you’d like to schedule a 15-minute free telephone call please also include some times that work for you.
